I get this sometimes, It's normally fixed by emptying the cache folder in your EVE installation directory. Delete everything except the Settings and Browser folders and the Prefs.ini file.

Thats a good Tip actually, there is a history of problems with Soundblaster cards conflicting like this - which is why I stopped using them. Its a shame really, they are fantastic cards in every other aspect.
